HOME

You can never leave,
Though tried and seconded;
Attached to an elastic strap
That keeps slapping you back
Just when you think you’ve made it.

As lights go out daily
Here and are not replaced;
The fridge bulb always seems
To go first followed by those little
Known incandescent fish bowl filaments.

And faith in the fleeting
Path you crossed and doubled
Back upon in that glorious saturnine
Light soon left you in no doubt about
Your ultimate connection to its gene pool.
